Teaching Bio:

Hello. My name is Alice and I am a professional vocalist and singing teacher based in Burley, Leeds. I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2015 with a BA music degree. During my time at University I worked with the University Big Band, musically-directed a national award-winning A Cappella Group, and vocal coached 5 musicals for the Students' Union. I now perform with a range of musical ensembles in Leeds and also work with producers and writers in Manchester and London.

I teach a wide range of genres and styles, from hip-hop to folk, pop to classical. Singing is a deeply rooted passion of mine, and I think singing of all abilities and ages is a wonderful thing to experience and be part of.

As a singing teacher, I understand that each individual may want lessons for a number of reasons. Whether that be to develop a specific area, learn how to sing - starting at the very beginning (a very good place to start) or whether you have a specific song you want to focus on. I am here to help you gain the skills and technique you need. Each lesson is individually tailored for you, to help you get the most out of your lessons with me.

I have received vocal training since the age of 9 and have experienced a number of different teaching methods that I am able to apply to my own teaching. With me, you will learn the skills to perform confidently and professionally to the best of your ability within a comfortable and positive environment.

From your first lesson, we will discuss what you want to achieve from your vocal training and build a progressive programme that works best for you. Whether you’d like to focus on scale practice, range building and pitch accuracy or even just perform some of your favourite songs, together we can design a programme that suits your goals.

I honestly believe anyone can sing but it requires the correct support, practice and passion to create a truly talented vocalist. Singing is something very organic and I feel shouldn’t be clouded in rules and regulations. However, with practice and lessons, you will be able to perform to your maximum potential with ease and fluidity.

Whether you are aspiring to be a professional singer or just want to learn how to sing with confidence and for fun, I can design vocal lessons to help you strengthen and develop your voice. I also work with a brilliant team of vocal teachers across Leeds to help provide the right lessons for you. Each provides professional lessons to help you develop your voice safely and correctly, whilst still having fun.

Teaching Bio:

Hello. My name is Jordan and I a professional vocal coach based in central Leeds, helping students of all ages to develop their vocal ability. I am a qualified teacher, having recently graduated from Leeds College of Music with a BA Hons Degree in popular music.

I have been teaching since 2014, specialises in Pop singing, leading some students into the Trinity and Rock School singing exams to achieve a distinction every time. I have experience teaching both one to one lessons and group sessions ranging from ages 4-35, every age is considered.

In my current teaching practise I use the method of Primal Sounds - (Sigh, Whimper, Whinge and Yell) in order to apply to various musical styles and techniques. I adapt my methods to each student as no one is alike and try to make everything as relevant as possible giving as many examples to relate to. I have been using this method for many years and found it to be very relatable and effective, however, I am extremely interested and invested in learning as much about the voice as I can. I am particularly interested in the workings of Dr Irene Bartlett at the moment.

Alongside my teaching I am currently a member of numerous bands, performing regularly around the country singing at weddings, parties and events. I also write and perform my own music varying my performance style and techniques considering which is most relevant for the repertoire.

Due to my experience, knowledge and direct involvement within the music industry, I have learnt extensively from various professionals about what is required to develop as a modern-day recording artist, performer and collaborator. I believe this experience gives me an appealing ability to pass relevant specialist knowledge on to students.

I am able to adapt to a number of musical styles, primarily teaching to build confidence and fulfilment of every student. Sessions consist of warm-ups, technical practice such as scales, breathing and singing techniques, working on a song choice of the student to ensure the best techniques and performance is used.
